Golden rules are quite special rules that one should always remember and not forget. These are very important and useful guideposts to keep us on course and going in the correct direction.

Find your Golden Rule, follow its star-like unwavering truth and become guided by it. Whatever your ultimate goal or task, there will be a Golden Rule that applies and will help in keeping you on track.

Personally, I also found this guide offers some more great golfing golden rules if you really want your game to be the best it can be.

3 of the very best Golden Rules for Golf Handicap Tracker Heaven are:.

Golden Rule # 1:

There are number of different variables in golf and hence tracking your score only makes sense if you also track the prevailing weather conditions.

You can see this quite clearly if you consider the 2010 Open at St Andrews in Scotland. On the first day of The Open Championship there was very little wind, and the links course played like a dream. And on day 1 of the championship there were over 50 people with under-par scores, and it was looking feasible that the cut for the weekend could be very low indeed (like two under par), so recording their scores on a golf handicap tracker was no doubt a pleasure for those players on the first day.

Typically, there were also a few accompanying rumblings about whether the course was testing enough for professional golfers etc as everyone seemed to be playing it so easily. On day two however, the wind got up, and suddenly it was an entirely different course. Play was even suspended for an hour! And this calm looking links course from day one was suddenly replaced with a raging dragon, breathing fire and forcing everyone to score much higher scores. Same course, different weather, different days, different outcome.

I found personally that just changing a few things, as outlined here, really made a big difference to my scoring.

The thinking behind doing it like this is that you need to have consistency over time. The aim is not necessarily to be a role call of glory in terms of merely recording your shot scores over time, but also to act as a catalyst to figure out where your golf game needs improvement Remember, the goal is to become an all-round better golfer, and to execute the different stages of the game to the best of your ability.

To do that you need to know the second golden rule….

Golden Rule # 2:

Know your strengths and then focus on them, rather then your weaknesses.

It’s best to handle this carefully because sometimes people are so appalling at one aspect of the game (like chipping etc) that it drags their whole game score down to such an extent that they have to do something about it, and at least improve enough in that area so it doesn’t become debilitating.

Remember though that it is your strengths and not your weaknesses that define you.

And so once every aspect of your game is at least competent, you should then focus on becoming outstanding at the areas that you are most naturally gifted in. So, if you are a great putter then work on becoming outstanding at putting. Likewise for driving etc. Spend your time on your strengths and it will have disproportionate results on your golf score.

You can actually check specific player statistics on the PGA Tour website. It makes interesting reading, because you soon realise that even great players are only very average at certain aspects of the game of golf, but excel at others.

Here are Tiger Woods Stats for the 2010 season (not his best year by a long chalk, but it gives you some idea):

http://www.pgatour.com/players/r/?/00/87/93/stats

You can see that there is a big variation between his best areas and his worst.

When I foscused on my strengths I found it helped a lot. And along with doing this, my scores came down quite quickly.

Golden Rule # 3:

Stick with it, and keep on practising even if nothing seems to be happening!

Why this is important is because You should not get caught up in the myth that you read in some golfing courses that improving your golf game is an overnight process. Its possible to improve quickly, but its also quite likely that results will take some time to show up. So don’t be impatient. Rest assured that if you keep taking steady action that your golf handicap tracker will start to see some much lower numbers!

To really kickstart the process just do this >>

Getting to grips with dramatically lowering your golf score is something that most keen golfers are keen on doing, and perhaps learning how to best use a golf handicap tracker could be of interest to you. There are helpful services and products available regarding how to use a golf handicap tracker, and once you have mastered the available options you will then be able to track your progress and see at a glance how your golf game has developed over time. There’s much helpful info available on golf that should be of interest. And this article is meant to assist you to further define whatever interest you’ve got in how to use a golf handicap tracker and lower your golf score.

Here is the Golf Handicap Tracker that I use >>

Do you want to know how to use a golf handicap tracker to lower your golf score? Continue reading and find out how to do it in 3 easy steps!

1/ The first thing to realise is that in order to properly make progress in something you first need to chart the progress that you are making.

Without this step it becomes very difficult to consider whether or not you are in fact making any progress, because changes can be small, and there is also a plateauing effect in learning anything, where long periods of time can elapse between deciding to do something about improving your golf game, and actually seeing consistent results. You will need to be patient because it is all to easy to get frustrated at your lack of progress and not feel as though you are getting anywhere, but in actual fact you are building a foundation of knowledge that will stand you in good stead in the future.

This happened to me in fact. I thought my game had plateaued, and then I looked more closely at the notes I had made in my golf handicap tracker, practiced more and within three weeks I had knocked 7 shots off my average golf score which was really pleasing.

An interesting book which talks about the subject of practicing is called ‘Outliers’ by Malcolm Gladwell, and it discusses how it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become an expert on something. He discovered that this rule seemed consistent across all disciplines, including business and sports. So, there seems to be scientific truth that can be verified that practice really does make perfect. The real question is then how many of your 10,000 hours have you completed on your road to golf mastery? Work it out. And take heart in the fact that you can get better if you firmly commit yourself to the process of improvement. You need to carefully avoid getting frustrated though and keep in mind the bigger picture. And if possible see yourself in your minds eye succeeding at golf, as visualisation is a useful skill to learn if you want to improve your overall performance.

(Thankfully I didn’t have to practice for 10,000 hours to lower my score. I just did this.)

It’ll be extremely important to complete this 1st step correctly, completely and well. If for any reason you can’t complete it correctly, then worrying about a golf handicap tracker, or counting your golf score will be of little use to you. The plain truth is that you still need to put in the shoe leather on the golf course if you ultimately hope to improve.

2/ Your second step will be to identify from your golf handicap tracker charts exactly where you are losing shots.

It could be that your putting game is letting you down. In which case you should work harder on that, or it could be your chipping onto the greens, or quite commonly little kinks in your golf swing that need ironing out. Whatever is the problem you need to have them in the back of your mind, so that you can work effectively on them with the aim of getting better. Items that you should avoid here are getting too analytical about one particular hole. You are looking for generalisations and repeating shot patterns here, not to beat yourself up because you happened to take a double bogey on one particular hole. The specific holes are relevant only in so far as they illustrate a particular weakness in your game. And you will also want to avoid the smaller mistakes. Golf is like any other activity that you engage in, in that you should apply the 80/20 rule, and focus on the 20% of issues that causes all the problems, not the small stuff. .

3/ Your third step is to hone in on the data that you will have accumulated by doing this process and start to get it right down to the top three problems that you have in your game.

This will be significant because then you will be improving the parts of your game that have the greatest overall effect on you golf score, and hence offer the maximum opportunity to lower your golf score for the minimum amount of work. The most important thing to avoid is getting too caught up in the minutiae of the game. I found that changing just a few things made a massive difference to my game. Because otherwise you can end up worrying about a little twist in your shoulders, when perhaps your problem is much larger (like hitting the ball in the wrong direction, or slicing it consistently ). I was helped out tremendously by this >>

Go through the exact steps outlined above and you ought to have little if any problems with the best way to use a golf handicap tracker most effectively to lower your golf score rapidly and well, easily. Just do the things you should, for the reasons given and avoid the difficulties and traps explained. Then congratulate yourself as you really experience the benefits and rewards of having successfully navigated the golfing trap of not following through, and hence not experiencing the joy of constantly lower golf scores!

Making use ofgood golf handicap software or a good golf handicap calculator can certainly help your game.

Personally I prefer the manual way of recording and I use this Golf Handicap Tracker >>
